6 Organization Mistakes You Make at Home

As organized as we think we are, there are always some mistakes we make when it comes to getting things right. Find out what they are and learn how to get rid of them!

6 Organization Mistakes You Make at Home

The organization aims to make things functional and practical, so that your life is easier and your free time is better spent. But, do you really know how to organize? If you hesitated to respond, it is possibly someone who first confuses arranging with ordering and makes several mistakes that make the mess your number one enemy in the house.

Being organized requires, first of all, some planning. Plan to avoid stress with furniture that is not very functional and that, instead of helping, just take up space in your house or apartment. Non-functional furnishings and furnishings only make things more difficult because they are cheating in the environment without any function. In the case of small houses and apartments, this type of item gets in the way even more, since everything that comes in again must be calculated in advance so as not to overwhelm the environment.

Tip 1: Detachment is a great ally in the organization, use it without fear!

To begin with, let’s take advantage of the hook of new things in the house to talk about detachment. Important Reminder: For new things to come in, unused or old things must come out to make room for them. Detach all the pieces of clothing you’ve bought on impulse and never worn again, shoes that are out of use or very old and worn out things that are just taking up space. If you are already someone who practices detachment whenever you feel need, congratulations! You are avoiding the accumulation of parts and making the choices for the simplest day look.

Tip 2: Leave the pieces of a station that already ended up cramming the wardrobe

Still about wardrobes, a simple yet very useful tip is the removal of the pieces that are out of the main part of your station. Store unused parts in plastic containers in plastic containers and store them to carry them to the closet when the old station comes back. The important thing here is to leave out of the way everything that can turn your organization into a simple housekeeping.

Tip 3: Have adequate space for things you use infrequently

Bags and travel items like beach umbrella, beverage cooler, thermal boxes or sporting items for specific times of the year should have a reserved space in your home not to take the corner of other more important items day in and day out. If you have an enclosed outdoor area or even a closet, attic or small room, book for this type of material and take it out only when it becomes necessary again.

Tip 4: Return things to their places of origin

Obvious tip, however, we need to always have someone on our feet to get it done. It’s simple: if you took an item from a place after use, return it to where you picked it up. This will help you keep your organization up to date and will save you stress when you have to collect things from the house you did not keep because of laziness. Always think of the you of the future by using the free time to collect the mess you made.

Tip 5: Have only what your home supports and do not overwhelm the environments.

As we talked about before, organization has to do with planning and this should be used whenever you think about buying something new. Plan yourself and see if what you want is really useful or fit at home. If the answer to at least one of these questions is no, rethink the purchase. Avoid buying things you will not have where to put them later. Less is more!

Tip 6: Accumulated papers are a headache

Documents, printed invoices, newspapers, magazines, proof of purchase, receipts, among others. Papers multiply easily and are also enemies of an organization that needs to be up-to-date. Do not let paid accounts accumulate inside your drawers. Ideally, you should get rid of anything that is more than six months old. Another sustainable and practical alternative is to migrate your invoices to a digital invoice and receive the copy by email only.

Now that you know what mistakes you make when organizing, rethink your housekeeping strategies and make your life easier.
