The Autauga County School District is one of the largest and most successful in the state, serving over 8,000 students from kindergarten through 12th grade. The district has a total of 11 schools; six elementary schools, two middle schools, two high schools and one alternative school. The district also offers pre-kindergarten services at five campuses. Established in 1820, it is the oldest and largest university in the state. With over 38,000 students enrolled, it is one of the largest universities in the southeast.
