According to a2zdirectory, Allegany County Public Schools is the largest school district in the county, serving over 11,000 students in grades Pre-K through 12. The district encompasses all of Allegany County and is divided into three regions: Northern, Central, and Southern. Each region has its own Board of Education and Superintendent. The district operates 25 elementary schools, seven middle schools, four high schools, and two alternative education centers. Allegany High School is the largest high school in Allegany County with over 1,400 students enrolled in grades 9-12.
